East Main Street Streetscape

Work on the long-awaited project is set to start October 2021

The East Main Street Streetscape Project promotes the growth and reinvestment in Lansdale Borough by investing in the Borough’s downtown streets and sidewalks to promote development in surrounding Lansdale Borough properties.  The Project will extend directly in front of the YMCA and continue toward the downtown business district and SEPTA’s Lansdale Station. The Project has been designed to improve pedestrian routes to and from Lansdale’s train and bus stops with upgraded sidewalks, curb ramps and lighting.

  • Preliminary work to determine what sanitary infrastructure repairs are necessary will begin on Monday, October 25 and Tuesday, October 26.  This work will involve sanitary sewer main exploratory pits on East Main Street being excavated from North Line Street to Lansdale Avenue. Traffic lanes will be restricted in the work area, but the East Main Street roadway will remain open.
  • The exploratory pits will be used to determine the condition of the sanitary sewer infrastructure and will also determine where manholes must be constructed to allow access to the sanitary sewer main in this area. Currently, there is approximately 1500 feet of sanitary sewer in the East Main Street Streetscape Project area that is inaccessible to service and maintenance.
  • The scheduled work will provide the necessary data to engineer, design and construct the sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements that are needed in the Project area.
