Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, there will be additional funding available to assist Montgomery County families who have been impacted by COVID-19. The funds are through the CARES Act and the Your Way Home Emergency Rent & Utility Coalition will be overseeing the disbursement of those funds. Families who have experienced a COVID hardship can receive up to $1500 per month in assistance for rental arrears and/or utility arrears dating back to March 1, 2020, with a maximum of 6 months’ worth of arrears being awarded. There are four agencies who will be reviewing applications and working directly with these families. The agencies are as follows:
Everyone is required to complete an application as the first step in the process. If you are not able to complete the application on-line, you can also request the application at Manna’s reception desk. These funds are different from the COVID funds Manna distributed earlier this year. So, if your family already received assistance through Manna, you can still apply for these funds as long as you are behind in rent or utilities as a result of COVID.
